These are a little out of order because I’m still editing the ones from the previous day, because there are soooo many.

On the morning of our late afternoon flight, we drove out to the Cape since Darek had never been there. Unfortunately it wasn’t really enough time to do or see much, but we had a fun morning in Sandwich, and now Darek has been to Cape Cod.

Ha ha:

Thank goodness the restrooms were still in season, because after the drive, I needed them:

Remember this next time you want to abandon your geese at the Cape:

Mmmm. Seafood by the ocean…

Sadly, this was the last picture we got on our trip, and the best view of a lighthouse we could find. Stupid rich people hiding all the lighthouses…

To keep Darek happy, we took a trip to the Sam Adams Brewery in Boston. (OK, I won’t lie, I wanted to go too.) It was pretty cool; you get a tour of the brewery, which is interesting, and then 3 samples of some of their beers. And it was all free, so even better.

The tasting room:

Darek is very excited about free beer:

They let you keep the glasses too, and they’re the perfect size for juice glasses. So I drink out of them most mornings. It’s probably hard to tell from the picture, but they’re about four inches tall:

I give it three thumbs up.

I was born fairly close to Boston and I love to go back to visit. I’d love to live there someday if we could afford it.

I can never remember what the name of this park is, but this is where you can ride the swan boats in the summer:

Martha is the best:

Make way for ducklings (and good luck waiting for all those kids to get out of the way…):

I’m holding on to its neck because it’s slippery and I’m giving it bunny ears because I’m a dork:

A different kind of bridge:

Boston, I miss you.

I hadn’t been apple picking since high school, and Darek had never been, so apple picking was a major priority on our trip. We went to Lyman Orchards, just like in the old days when my family lived in Connecticut. The weather was amazing and the apples were like magic.

For the past several years I’ve been wanting to take a road trip up to New England in the Fall to see the foliage and visit all of our amazingly wonderful friends that still live up there. I spent the first 7 years of my life in Massachusetts and lived in Connecticut for most of my high school years and I hadn’t seen a New England Autumn since 1996. Since fall is a busy time for my photography business, I just haven’t been able to make the trip even though I desperately wanted to. But this year we said “screw it; we’re going.”

And we did.

It was a whirlwind trip because Darek ended up starting a new job right before our trip and he couldn’t take off as much time as we had planned. So instead of driving, we flew, which I hate, and we only had a couple of days up there. But, we did go, and it was totally awesome.

We visited my friend Jaime and her son Michael in Connecticut first. One thing I really wanted to do was go apple picking, so we all went to Lyman Orchards, where we used to go when I was in high school. But first we went through the corn maze there.

Proof that we bought tickets:

CORN! Just to warn you, I may have gotten a little carried away with photos of the corn…

But it looked so cool!

Jaime & Michael:

Close up!

Darek loves to have his photo taken. Just don’t get your hopes up for a “normal” smile or anything:

A rare photo of the two of us:

Jaime and Slouchy Stacie…geez:

Corn with foliage in the background! And check out that blue sky:

Sometimes you just have to stop and smell the corn…groan, how corny is that? HA HA HA:

Yes, I’m a city girl. I find corn exciting:

And strangely beautiful:

We tried to explain this to Michael, but no one really knew where to begin:

Trying to find our way out of the maze:

We did it!

We survived the maze:

Darek takes a minute to mourn those who did not:

In the pumpkin patch:

Seriously, life just doesn’t get much more exciting that corn mazes, amiright?
