A few pictures from around the resort early in the morning, before the crowds woke up.

This is the day we took the most pictures, so it’ll be coming in multiple parts. Probably 3. Possibly 4.

We had an amazing sunrise, hands-down the best of our trip.

Day 2 in Mexico

January 4th, 2009

“Day 2” was actually Day 1 if you count full days we spent in Mexico. We slept in a bit and ordered room service for breakfast. Yes, even room service was all-inclusive. Win!

We had our room service breakfast on our balcony:

Darek must be hungry:

My fruit:

My bread:

YUM:

Sitting on the beach all day:

Swimming:

When Darek drowned:

This picture cracked us up:

Pretty:

My feets:

Why do I look so disturbed? Could be the guy in the speedo…or the topless lady…who knows.

We spent most of days reading:

Evening drinks:

The resort at night:

My caesar “salad”?

Desserts:

We saw some Mayan fire-dancers performing at a wedding reception:

And then the resort burned down:

Not really.

Ah…for a relaxing vacation, the all-inclusive resort is the way to go. We spent our days lying on the beach, soaking up the sun while enjoying a cool breeze. We went for walks on the beach. We swam. We read books. We ate lots of yummy food. We were brought drinks on the beach.

It was wonderful.

Here is Day 1.

Watching the sun rise at the airport:

First sight of the Yucatan Peninsula:

Me looking at the water:

This sign was in the bathroom at the Cancun airport. DO NOT THROW HOT DOGS IN THE TOILET.

Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived at the resort, so we went and had lunch. In our jeans, sneakers, and long-sleeves. Not a great idea. Although lunch was FANTASTIC.

Quesadillas! Yum!

Margaitas! Double yum!

Our room still wasn’t ready, so we got some clothes from our luggage, changed, and had drinks by the pool:

Hey, is that an igloo behind Darek?

And our room was finally ready!

Love the fridge access.

The resort had 7 restaurants for us to choose from. We went to the Italian restaurant the first night. This is a terrible picture of my yummy salmon with incredible mashed potatoes:

And this is my yummy apple tart with cinnamon ice cream next to Darek’s amazing tiramisu.

Day 1 = Success.

Going to Mexico!
